The Brain Balance Program in Woodbury
Dedicated to helping children in Woodbury and the surrounding areas, the Brain Balance Achievement Center of Woodbury helps children meet their social, behavioral, and academic goals. Children enrolled in The Brain Balance Program are first given a personalized assessment which helps our center identify each child’s unique challenges. Once we pinpoint a child’s difficulties, we develop a personalized plan that will help the child overcome their struggles and reach their goals.
Academic activities, sensory motor training, and dietary guidelines are included in each child’s individualized plan. We believe that these activities are valuable in developing an integrated, whole-child approach to help children overcome the challenges associated with Asperger syndrome.

How The Brain Balance Program Works With Asperger’s Syndrome
Asperger syndrome (now considered a part of ASD) is often classified as high-functioning autism and is a pervasive developmental disorder on the autism spectrum. Children with Asperger’s tend to have average to above-average IQs and well-developed vocabularies, while still struggling with many social and sensory issues, such as reading social cues and not understanding subtleties. One of the major differences between Asperger syndrome and other spectrum disorders as recognized by the Autism Society, is there is no speech delay with Asperger’s. Children with Asperger Syndrome may:
- Have trouble understanding other people’s feelings or talking about their own feelings.
- Avoid eye contact
- Have narrow, sometimes obsessive, interests
- Have a hard time understanding body language
- Be clumsy or awkward
- Speak in unusual ways or with an odd tone of voice
- Have unusual sensory reactions
In order to help children with Asperger syndrome overcome their social, behavioral or academic challenges, the Brain Balance Program combines sensory motor with academic activities to improve right-brain connectivity. To help children with Asperger’s syndrome and high-functioning autism, our program focuses on finding the root cause of the issue. Through our drug-free, integrated approach to helping children with Asperger syndrome, we are able to identify the areas of the brain where we find the greatest need for improvement in order to help children with their developmental functions. How has The Brain Balance Program helped other children overcome their struggles?
