Joseph Shimp
Lead Coach
Joseph has his associate’s degree in Education and is currently attending Abilene Christian University where he is working towards a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Joseph’s goal is to become a speech and language pathologist. He first found his interest in working with children while employed at the Becky Gates Children’s Center in College Station. His favorite part of coaching at Brain Balance is seeing kids complete their exercises with enthusiasm. In his free time, Joseph enjoys playing guitar and spending time outdoors kayaking and golfing.

Hailey Ivey
Sensory Motor Coach
Hailey is a sophomore at Texas State University interested in pursuing a career in education or nursing. She loves working with kids and has spent lots of time as a caregiver for her siblings. Her favorite part of Brain Balance is watching the children progress and seeing the positive changes they experience. Hailey enjoys reading, spending time with friends and family, watching her brother’s Little League games, and traveling to see professional baseball games.

Luisa Hinojosa
Program Director
Luisa enjoys her current role as Program Director of the San Antonio location. She joined Brain Balance to get a better understanding of how the brain works and how its neuroplasticity can be used to help students overcome their challenges. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Texas at San Antonio and is currently seeking her Master’s Degree in Industrial Psychology from the University of the Incarnate Word. Luisa enjoys working in a fast-paced environment helping both families and Brain Balance coaches navigate through the Program by providing whatever assistance they may need to ensure their success. In her free time, she likes to go to the gym, travel overseas, read, and hang out with her two dogs: Max and Leo.

Amanda A. Petter, MS.
Center Director
Amanda initiated her academic journey at Tarleton State University, where she successfully pursued both her Undergraduate and Master's degree studies. Holding a bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management and a Masters degree in Leadership and Management, her educational background is robust and versatile. Throughout her time at Tarleton State, her initial aspirations to work with children as a teacher, coach, or counselor gradually evolved and solidified. Engaging with children through her involvement in collegiate volleyball and various activities such as the Special Olympics, as well as athletic and academic camps, Amanda discovered her deep-seated passion for mentorship and making a positive impact on young lives. Amanda's ambitions expanded beyond mere mentorship; she aspired to effect substantial change in the lives of children and families. Since 2013, Amanda has been instrumental in positively influencing and assisting thousands of children through her dedicated work at Brain Balance.
