Hunter was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome (ASD).
He had a lot of issues when he was born. As he grew I knew something wasn’t right. He was my third child, so I knew what he was supposed to do. Looking back, it was a lot of sensory issues, but I didn’t know it at the time. We also noticed he had an unusually high tolerance for pain. We started therapies but they did not work. My therapist said, “Heather, it’s really not helping him. He’s getting worse.” At a Zac Brown concert, there was a kiosk for Brain Balance. After talking to the staff, I knew Brain Balance was what I had to do. I talked with the Brain Balance Center and signed up for an assessment and we started the program. Hunter made unbelievable strides, and Brain Balance was there for me every single step of the way.
Within months I could hug Hunter and he told me he loved me. I knew then that I had to share this with the whole world. To hear “I love you” for the first time from your child is amazing. I never thought that he would be that person. Hunter bonded with the staff at Brain Balance and they became his family. He trusted everything about the place. Now his teacher says, “You would never know that Hunter ever had a problem. He’s one of our most social, most caring children. The difference is that now he notices everything about everybody and cares.”
